365nm UV Torch – Blood Tracking & Night Use

When the shot is taken at last light, finding the trail matters. This pair of 365nm UV torches gives you a second way to look for blood sign after dark, and they earn their place in the bakkie for plenty of other jobs too.

Blood tracking after dark

Under 365nm ultraviolet light, many leaves, grasses and other plant material fluoresce (glow). Blood doesn't, so drops and smears can stand out as dark spots against the glowing vegetation.

• Mark the last sign you found with your white light.
• Switch to UV and sweep the beam low and slowly over the ground and vegetation ahead.
• Work close up. UV is most useful at short range on green grass and leaves.

Results depend on the terrain, the vegetation and how fresh the trail is, so treat UV as an extra tool alongside a good white light, not a replacement for it. Always follow the hunting regulations of your province and the rules of the farm or reserve you're hunting on.
